
Me and Muffookies! How it Happened.
It all starts with me as a kid in Buffalo Grove, IL , sitting on the counter, begging my mom to let me crack an egg into her cookie batter. With my whole family in the restaurant business in Chicago, I grew up around good food and deserts my whole life.
I left home at 18 to go to school in Boston, where I got a BFA in musical theater. I continued to bake for all of my friends in school, mostly putting spins on old family recipes. After school I moved to NY where I lived and worked in theater for a while. Then while doing Spamalot in Las Vegas I was feeling creative and bought a mini muffin tin. I tried different recipes in those tins to see what cool thing I could come up with. Putting my own unique cookie doughs, having them come out looking like mini muffins became the winner. Hence, Matt’s Muffookies was born.
After moving to LA in the fall of 2008, I decieded to try and take it to the next level. Adding around 15 flavors to the list, and starting my own business.
The name simply comes from combining muffin and cookie. Muffookie.
